SUMMARY:September 2023 Trail Workday
DESCRIPTION:WHAT: TRAIL WORKDAY \nWHEN:  8:00AM SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 9TH 2023 \nWHERE: PRESCOTT NATIONAL FOREST\, YANKEE DOODLE TRAIL #284 \nPlease check your e-mail or PTR Facebook posts on Saturday morning to ensure nothing has caused the cancellation of the workday! \nDIRECTIONS TO STAGING LOCATION:  5-Corners (or 1 mile prior) Southwest of Walker. Start at Walker Rd & Hwy 69 where Costco or AM-PM gas station is. Follow paved Walker Road South ~6.8 miles\, just after the bridge\, and turn left onto Big Bug Mesa easy-graded gravel road. Then an additional ~5.2 or ~6.2 miles on Big Bug Mesa and you arrive at where the trailer will be parked. The Five Corners (GPS 34.419806\, -112.385290) location was filled with equipment & hunters on Wednesday\, our alternative location is right on the way to 5-Corners\, so the PTR trailer will be easy to see whichever location we need to select. \n8:00AM mandatory safety meeting at the PTR trailer. \nYou will then need any Jeep/RZR/quad/MC to travel together about 2.9 miles on 261/Poland Jct. Rd (re-graded just this week) to get to the intersection of 261 & 261A which is the graded road right up to the Mt. Union L.O. tower. This road is normally locked gate\, but we have access this Saturday. Someone will haul our tools and PPE to this location with a Jeep/PU. We will then hike about 1/8 mile\, carrying your own tools\, to the work site. The Forest Service is now creating a reroute around some private land near the Mt. Union lookout tower\, we will mostly be doing cleaning/buffing of the newly mini-excavator created trail. Forest personnel will be onsite providing direction in the work they want completed. Bring your own water and snacks onto the trail. You always need sturdy shoes\, long pants\, sleeves\, gloves\, eye protection\, PTR hardhat or your bicycle helmet. \nSandwich lunch is provided by PTR back at the trailer about noontime. \n \n

SUMMARY:June 2023 Club Ride
DESCRIPTION:WHAT:      JUNE 2023 CLUB RIDE \nWHEN:     9:00AM SATURDAY JUNE 17\, 2023 \nWHERE:   CAMPWOOD RD & PNF TRAIL 666 (34.8114357\, -112.7773867) \nThanks to Barrett & Brett extensive scouting\, we’re excited to announce PTR’s June club ride.  We will be riding trails north of Campwood Rd where they have mapped out the route in blue\, although anyone looking to shorten the loop can do so on the yellow highlighted route (95B is the toughest\, longest\, section.) \nThere will be sandwich fixings for lunch after the ride. \nDirections to the staging area-   \nFrom the Old Stage Stop (Chevron) station at Outer Loop and Williamson Valley Rd.\, head north on Williamson Valley for 13 miles. \nTurn left onto Campwood Rd (County Rd 68) for 8.5 miles. \nTurn left through the gate at FR 666; we will stage by the large water tank and windmill. \nNOTE-  The above coordinates for staging location are good in Google/Apple maps\, but route through Las Vegas Ranch/Fair Oaks.  We don’t believe you can access Campwood Rd from there\, so suggest going all the way down Williamson Valley Rd to Campwood Rd. \n \nRide Routing- \n \nRoutes that were pre-ridden are in yellow.  The blue is the proposed main route for the club ride.  For those looking for a shorter\, little easier ride\, they can use the yellow routes to create a shorter loop.  Going down 95b is the toughest\, longest section.

Proceed about ½ miles\, thru the barely running creek then park and unload on either side of the road because there is very limited space where the trailer is\, continue another ¼ mile (3/4-mile total from the highway) to the PTR trailer at the corral and corner of 87A & 9211A (approx. 34.431461\, -112.269414). 9:00AM mandatory safety meeting at the PTR trailer. \nYou will need your UTV\, ATV\, Jeep\, motorcycle (no trucks) to travel mostly together ~2.8 miles South on PNF 9211A to the 2nd PNF 130 signed trail head. PNF 9211A is mostly hardpacked Jeep trail with just a few deep/sharp washouts\, which is why we noted “no trucks”. Final riding destination occurs where PNF 130 pops up out of the wash at about (34.4078\, -112.2777) GPS coordinate location. \nWe will have a Jeep or UTV bring work tools & hardhats to this location and the trail work will start right at this location\, walking right along the trail. Bring your own water\, gloves\, and safety glasses\, or get them from the PTR trailer. \nSandwich lunch is provided by PTR back at the trailer about 1:00pm.

DESCRIPTION:WHAT:  PTR’s Out-Of-State St George\, UT Ride \nWHEN:  Thursday March 16th to Saturday March 18th 2023 (Ride Days) \nWHERE:  St George\, UT \nUPDATE:  DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS A ONE-DAY DELAYED ARRIVAL IS SUGGESTED.  We are evaluating an alternative dry camping location approximately one mile north of the original location\, and will update those who had RSVP’d that they would participate.  \nWe will be riding just East of St. George\, UT in the Warner Valley area. The three riding days are Thursday 16th to Sat 18th March.  The travel days are leaving Prescott on Wednesday 15th March and returning on Sunday 19th of March.  Some may arrive earlier. \nThere are hotels and rv campgrounds in St George\, however\, most will likely choose to dry camp off the Warner Valley Rd.  A Google map link to the area we stayed at last year is the preferred spot.  UtahMotoTrails has a web page with info\, a video\, and map info. of the Warner Valley area.  The Warner Valley road is a graded dirt road suitable for large rvs.  We will be camping in an open riding area which is best suited to dirt bikes rather than ADV bikes\, however\, there are many dirt roads suitable for exploring. \nIf you plan on attending this ride please send an email to prescotttrailriders@gmail.com with: \n\nYour Name\,\nA cell phone number\,\nWhen you expect to arrive\, and\nThe expected number in your party..\n\nPLEASE NOTE UTAH’S UPDATED OHV OPERATOR’S “LICENSE”– Effective January 1st 2023\, anyone operating an OHV in Utah is required to have completed “OHV training” and obtained a certificate.
