DESCRIPTION:PTR will be picking up roadside litter again for our 1 mile section of Highway 89\, close to the Burro Inn in Wilhoit.  We will stage at 9AM under the big tree just east of the Burro Inn on Hwy 89 in Wilhoit.  Take Hwy 89 south from the Courthouse Square for 15.8 miles\, and the big tree will be on your left.  If this is your first Adopt-A-Highway work day\, please watch the linked ADOT safety video.  Please wear appropriate clothing (hat\, gloves\, shades\, and protective footwear). The 9AM mandatory safety meeting will be held at the PTR trailer. (Costco) intersection on the right side of the road. \nPTR will serve lunch (Costco garlic drumsticks & pizza) at the staging location around noon after the ride.  We will not have the PTR trailer there (the parking area is limited) so please bring a chair if desired.  Also\, please bring your preferred beverages (we will have water available.) Big tree and parking area on the left or South side where the PTR trailer will be. (If you get to the Burro Inn\, you went 100 yds too far.) The 9AM mandatory safety meeting will be here at the PTR trailer. \nYou will then need your 4WD\, UTV\, ATV or motorcycle to travel mostly together 4.5 miles Southeast on 72\, which is a mostly graded smooth(ish) road\, to unmarked PNF jeep road 9712E (coordinates 34.38626\, -112.54483). Turn left or East onto 9712E and cross the now dry Hassayampa river\, follow this road into the wash to a cowboy gate at about 0.6 miles (last thru close the gate please) and then about an additional 0.5 miles to the PNF 129 trail head on the right (coordinates 34.38632\, -112.53203). We will disperse tools there (a volunteer hauling the tools in a small truck is needed) and you can hike up the trail. The first 300 yards need brushing\, then mostly tread work with some brushing and limb removal for the next ½ mile or more\, depending on how many people participate. \nBring your own water for the trail and for lunch.  Lunch will be provided by PTR! \nPTR will supply hard hats\, we are running low on glasses and gloves though\, bring your own if you have them please. DESCRIPTION:WHAT:     PTR DECEMBER 2024 CLUB RIDE \nWHEN:    9AM SATURDAY DECEMBER 21ST 2024 \nWHERE:  THE MILITARY TRAIL #1 (PNF NORTH WILLIAMSON VALLEY) \nWe hope you will be able to join for our final club ride of the year.  Please arrive around 9AM; we plan to have a rider’s meeting then kickstands up at 10AM. \nThe ride will explore the famed Military Trail #1\, described in the attached/linked PNF PDF brochure\, which is located in Williamson Valley in the northern part of the Prescott National Forest.  The ride will be about 24 miles out and back with easier return options if desired (e.g. Williamson Valley Rd to the staging area.) \nThe staging area will be just before the trailhead on County Rd. 125 (approximately 1.4 miles west of Williamson Valley Rd.). Please see the attached map for staging location and ride routing. \nDirections to the staging area- \nFrom the intersection of Hwy 89 and Outer Loop Rd.\, take Outer Loop Rd. west for 6 miles to Williamson Valley Rd.  Turn right and continue north for 27 miles to County Rd. 125.  Turn left and continue for 1.4 miles.  Staging will be just short of the trailhead on the right. \nPTR will serve food and refreshments after the ride.

You will need your motorcycle\, or vehicle to travel about 1 ½ miles from the staging to the either end of the trail (where tools will be staged.) Travel South from downtown Prescott on State Route 89/ Montezuma/White Spar\, and turn right on Copper Basin Road at the first RED light past the Safeway grocery store. Travel about 6.5 miles\, the blue route below\, on Copper Basin Road to the TOP\, then turn left on 9402C and continue ½ mile and see the PTR trailer near the radio towers steel gate at the blue STAR below.  8:00AM mandatory safety meeting. Bring your own water and snacks for the trail. \nDIRECTIONS TO WORK LOCATION FROM STAGING LOCATION:  We will use an ATV to haul tools close to the work location. You need your motorcycle to travel about 1-1/4 miles on 48/260 to where PNF 48 turns left\, this is our secondary staging area to work on the trail. You can park your bike/quad here and walk or ride the trail a bit to start working (as this is our second workday on this trail\, most remaining work is further down the trail.) \nLunch at noon will be hosted by PNF staff and local trail work clubs at a site off Thumb Butte Rd listed in flyer below. DESCRIPTION:PTR will be picking up roadside litter again for our 1 mile section of Highway 89\, just southwest of the Burro Inn in Wilhoit.  We will stage at 9AM under the big tree just east of the Burro Inn on Hwy 89 in Wilhoit (in front of\, but not blocking the fenced APS Storage Yard.)  Take Hwy 89 south from the Courthouse Square for 15.8 miles\, and the big tree will be on your left.  If this is your first Adopt-A-Highway work day\, please watch the linked ADOT safety video.  Please wear appropriate clothing (hat\, gloves\, shades\, and protective footwear). Francis\, just off of the top of Copper Basin Rd (county 64) (34.489472°N\, 112.53975°W). Travel South from downtown Prescott on State Route 89/ Montezuma/White Spar\, and turn right on Copper Basin Road at the first RED light past the Safeway grocery store. Travel about 6.5 miles\, the blue route below\, on Copper Basin Road to the TOP\, then turn left on 9402C and continue ½ mile and see the PTR trailer near the radio towers steel gate at the blue STAR below.  8:00AM mandatory safety meeting. Bring your own water and snacks for the trail. Back to the PTR trailer for lunch by noon. \nDIRECTIONS TO WORK LOCATION FROM STAGING LOCATION:  We need a Quad or super-small side x side if you have one to haul tools. You need your motorcycle to travel about 1-1/4 miles on 48/260 to where PNF 48 turns left\, this is our secondary staging area to work on the trail. Forest or weather conditions have a more likely impact in August. \nPPE; Long pants & sleeves\, hardhat (or bicycle helmet)\, eye protection\, leather boots\, gloves. \nDIRECTIONS TO STAGING LOCATION:  7-Mile Gulch parking lot. Travel 2 miles South on Walker Rd from Walker Rd. & Hwy 69 intersection (Costco & AM-PM gas) and the parking area is on your right side (34.521603°N\, 112.392887°W). 7:00AM mandatory safety meeting. Bring your own water and snacks for the trail. The plan is to gather back at the PTR trailer for watermelon\, donuts & Gatorade at 10:00AM. \nDIRECTIONS TO WORK LOCATION FROM STAGING LOCATION:  If you work in the parking lot area you don’t need any additional transportation. If you work on the trail\, you can hike less than ¼ mile\, or a small quad would be great for hauling tools\, or your motorcycle. \nWatermelon and donuts are provided by PTR back at the trailer about 10:15ish.
